The Story of Mom “Super Glue”

I’ve been asked many times why the name “Super Glue Mom.”  I figured, it was time to tell you why I chose the name. As mothers, we have long to-do lists, children to take care of, a family to manage, chauffeur our kids to activities, throw in some work deadlines and responsibilities… and somehow we manage it all thanks to our God given ability to multitask.

We might loose a few brain cells during pregnancy; but we sure gain the ability to “stick” all the facets of life together.  So the best description that I could give myself that truly describes motherhood and how we stick all that we do together was “Super Glue Mom.”

It was a year ago last week that my kids really gave it a whole new meaning.  We were at the table doing crafts when I decided to super glue a broken fridge magnet.  The kids had their glue sticks, mommy used super glue.

Shortly after, I bent down to pick up fallen craft pieces when I saw my daughter with the super glue bottle in hand– opened.  I asked her if she had touched it, smelled it, eaten it, used it, licked it… her answer was no.  What I failed to ask is… Did you squirt it?

That night, in the shower, I realized my hair was a big glob. It’s a scary feeling to be forced grab scissors and chop your own hair.  Not trim it, chop it. 

Was I mad? (I’m sure you are wondering). I was. Did I blow up? Nope. By the time I realized what had happened kids were in bed and the story was old. I just had to deal.

The entire experience was a true testament of character.  Could you keep your cool even when your kids super glue your hair?  Life isn’t just about “finding the balance,” it’s also about how you react when the unthinkable happens.
