I’ve been asked many times why the name “Super Glue Mom.” I figured, it was time to tell you why I chose the name. As mothers, we have long to-do lists, children to take care of, a family to manage, chauffeur our kids to activities, throw in some work deadlines and responsibilities… and somehow we manage it all thanks to our God given ability to multitask.

We might loose a few brain cells during pregnancy; but we sure gain the ability to “stick” all the facets of life together. So the best description that I could give myself that truly describes motherhood and how we stick all that we do together was “Super Glue Mom.”
It was a year ago last week that my kids really gave it a whole new meaning. We were at the table doing crafts when I decided to super glue a broken fridge magnet. The kids had their glue sticks, mommy used super glue.
Shortly after, I bent down to pick up fallen craft pieces when I saw my daughter with the super glue bottle in hand– opened. I asked her if she had touched it, smelled it, eaten it, used it, licked it… her answer was no. What I failed to ask is… Did you squirt it?

That night, in the shower, I realized my hair was a big glob. It’s a scary feeling to be forced grab scissors and chop your own hair. Not trim it, chop it.
Was I mad? (I’m sure you are wondering). I was. Did I blow up? Nope. By the time I realized what had happened kids were in bed and the story was old. I just had to deal.
The entire experience was a true testament of character. Could you keep your cool even when your kids super glue your hair? Life isn’t just about “finding the balance,” it’s also about how you react when the unthinkable happens.

Love it!! I am sooo in! For life! Funny how somethings you think are so bad, can end up being soooo super good! xoxo
So funny!!! Honestly I could totally picture something like that happening in my house too!
I love the shorter ‘do
And as far as fighting your curls – you look awesome with them. I am one of those crazy people who pays big $$$ for the Japanese Hair Straightening every year for pin straight hair, but that makes my life easier amazingly enough .
And my super glue story is that I glued my teeth together once when I was a kid. Fan.Tastic!
Thanks! It’s easy to wear and takes a lot less time. It was a big deal at the time though… I’ve had long hair since HS, cut it once in college.
OMG! your teeth?! I forgot to add that the one time I chopped my hair short in college is because I had a bad run-in with a chemical hair straightening product. I swore that I would never do it again. I might as well embrace the curls… vs fighting them. My Chi has cobwebs….
Oh my gosh, I love it! What a wonderful story to share and look back on. So *THIS* is how superglue mom was born! Thanks for sharing mama…it even made me a little verklempt! sniff sniff. You have a gorgeous family.
What a cute story! Glue sticks for kids are always a safe bet.
Oh, my kids were not using the Super Glue! it was me! on the other end of the table. but funny how they get their hands on what they are not supposed to the second you are not looking!

Oh I could NEVER have been that calm. BRAVA to you!!! That’s the kind of attitude I need a little of. Great story
Lucky kids to have you as their mommy
And you look gorgeous!
Lucky FOR THE KIDS that I didn’t discover it until MUCH much later… Otherwise, I would probably have lost my cool. Which, looking back… probably not worth it… it’s just hair, right??
What a brave woman you are! Ha!
This is so sweet, regardless of how everything happened. You had a sense of humor about it and moved on. It’s those kinds of memories you look back and think how grateful you are to have two beautiful children.
Your hair looks super cute this way, girl
awww, thank you!! i keep going back and forth about cutting it or letting it grow! lol
